The Risk Factors of Cancer Development
Ovarian cancer is developed when there are cancer cell which are exponentially increasing into the ovaries and into the distant organs such as the pelvic. Although there are several explanations of how the cancer develops, there is still no definite understanding of why the cancer of the ovaries occurs. However, the following paragraphs will be able to inform you about the risk factors which are linked to a higher possibility of having an ovarian cancer.
The different risk factors of a woman to develop a cancer of the ovaries include family history (genetics), age, childbearing, personal medical history, obesity, and it could also be fertility drugs which were taken by woman. Other factors such as talc exposure as well as HRT (Hormone replacement therapy) are also known risk factors which are linked with ovarian cancer.
The most common claim of a why a woman develops cancer of the ovaries is the family background or basically what they normally term as “the genes carry it”. Experts and doctors believe that carrying the wrongly inherited genes BRCA1 and BRCA2 will mostly give the risk to the woman of having the cancer. In fact, there is a high probability when the woman has close relatives (mother, daughter, sister) who has the disease. Although the possibility is decreased when your grandmother, aunt or cousins have it, it is still a risk factor for you to have it as well. It is also risky if one of your close relatives has cancer of the breast, uterus, prostate or colon cancer.

Ovarian cancer causes
Age is another risk factor of a woman to develop the cancer. The cancer is attacking older women especially those who are already in their post menopausal stage. Take note that the older the woman, there will be higher likelihood of them having ovarian cancer development.
If you happen to have had a cancer of the colon or even breast cancer before, you are also at risk of having cancer of the ovaries. The National Cancer Institute claims that being overweight is also a risk for many types of cancer. Furthermore, ovarian cancer is more likely to occur with the older and overweight woman who had never been into HRT before when compared to the woman having normal body weight of their age.
It is also believed that when a woman did not bear any child on her womb, she has the higher possibility of developing the cancer when compared to women who have children. Woman with children are safer than those who had not given birth at all because the more children you have, there is a less probability of you having the cancer. Endometriosis which is a condition wherein the endometrial cells (cells inside the uterus) are growing outside the uterus is believed to have a 30 percent risk of causing the ovarian cancer.
Other factors such as use of talc in the genitals may also be risky of the development of the disease especially when used for years. Additionally, women who have used HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for more than 5 years are slightly risky of having the cancer.
Many risk factors had claimed to be the cause of ovarian cancer but it is still an amazing truth that there is still no definite answer to the question of why cancer of the ovaries occurs.
